Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review, and practice of Future Tense in the context of Travel

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of American and British terminology in the context of travel

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Teacher writes general questions on the board about the future e.g., What do you the weather will be like tomorrow? What are you going to do this weekend? - Students discuss the questions in paris and each student presents their partner's answers. - Teacher gives them a quick feedback

Exposure (8-12 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Teacher: - Distribute print-outs that includes a dialogue about future - Ask students what they understood from the dialogue - Give students feedback - Tell them we will be studing the future tense - Talk the studdents through the commentary in the book and write down teh examples on the board

Highlighting (2-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher: - Make sure to differeniate between "will" and "going to" in the sense of future

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students: - Answer exercise A as a whole class (complete using "will" and "be+going to" Teacher: - Correct the exercise with the students and give them feedback

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Teacher: - Divide students in pairs - Ask them to ask their partners about their near future and far future plans, taking turns. - Circulate around, take notes, then give the students feedback about their practice and clarify what still needs clarification.
