this lesson I will teach students all about how to write "Biography". And how to make it clear and simple.As I will also try to motivate them into the topic more by give them a chance to write about someone they know and love using the ideas I will provide during the session.


Main Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a Biography in the context of Planning and drafting a biography

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and inference reading practice using a text about Biography in the context of four steps to better writing


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask LS about comedian actors/actress they like and the best of their movies. And this the first step to draw their attention to the topic. I will not set the context right after this step as I am going to go deeply into the subject.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I will give them some info about my father then I will ask LS about theirs. In the process I will try to get as many info as I can to complete all the requirements for a perfect simple biography. Then I will ask LS what were we doing? what the name of this? Then I will elicit the context setting from them to make sure they understood the overview of the topic. I will use the information they gave me about their parents later in the writing task I am going to give them in the end.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will ask LS to read "Page.12 1.B" activity for gist to answer What do you find most useful? Then I will negotiate the ideas of the activity. After that I will ask LS to go for activity A and B in the right side of page 12 under the picture and make a pair check in the answers after that "which of the info in activity A goes with which paragraph in activity B? then I will give them feedback and ask them to check also activity C first draft and ask to guess the hand-writing above each sentence in a quick way to have an overview of the whole thing then I will explain briefly

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will ask Ls to write a biography about their father/mother using the information they provided in the beginning of the lesson and the structure they have learned. Then I will ask LS to work in pairs and check with each other by switching papers and correct each other's mistakes.

Feedback and Error Correction (4-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

First I will ask each pairs for their feedback about each other Ss. Then I will collect their papers and tell them I will give them my feedback next session.
