Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of the present perfect tense in the context of experience

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversations in the context of experiences

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Before the lesson starts, the lyrics ( Material 2- lead in) are put on the table of the Ss. As the lesson starts a picture of my son and a famous singer , both playing electro guitar are shown to students with the help of projector. Whole class discussion, who are they? Video of my son trying to play guitar, is played on screen. Teacher tells that they are going to listen a real song now from Bryan Adams. Tells Ss that they have the lyrcis. The song will be listened. On the board written name of the song ' Have you ever (really) loved a woman?' Which tense is it? Elicit

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

On the board with the help of projector, Have you ever really loved a woman? ________________________________? (meet Rafael Nadal) ________________________________? (eat snails) ________________________________? (run in a competition) ________________________________? (visit Scotland) ________________________________? (live in a different town) ________________________________? (stay in a seven star hotel) HOw will be answer form? Yes No Yes , I _____ No, I ________ Yes, I have _____ Rafael Nadal. No, I have ________ ______ Rafael Nadal. haven't= have never ( elicit) Elicit information from students. We use present perfect to talk about 'experiences' 'Experience' drilled. haven't= have never  ' experience' (n) (knowledge in a particular activiy.) ind and whole drilling Present perfect = not detailed If detailed-----Past simple Like; Have you ever met Rafael Nadal? Yes, I met him in Newyork in 2010.

Highlighting (3-6 minutes) • To highlight and clarify language

Instructions given; Work in groups of 3 or 4 What are the infinitives of the past participles? Then group the verbs under regular or irregular? ex: done----- do------ goes to the group irregular HOs given After like 4-5 min answers are given.Please check your answers with your peers.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

By the help of the projector, students will fill the table of Present Perfect on the board. Handouts will be given before I start this stage.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Past simple or Present Perfect in the gaps. Work in pairs HAndouts are given. Whole class feedback. In pairs practise the dialogue please.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Teacher wants students to come in front of the board to practice the sentences. Please ask your friends these questions Write the names who has the answer yes to the questions numbered. Like, Teacher makes an example Number 1 - Selin

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students listen to the audio and repeats. Drilling should be done both choral and individually.
