Description

This is an activity gives students an opportunity to speak about travel. The context continues by giving real life conversations.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To give Ss practice speaking for fluency in the context of travel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide provide students an opportunity to review and practice functional language.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss watch movie clip.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading about flight stories

Ss read newspaper articles. Ss imagine/think about being one of the passengers. FB - Were you able to imagine that you were one of the passengers? What were some of your feelings?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language about anecdotes for upcoming story telling.

Ask Ss questions: If I say... Once when I was 4 years old...what do you think of? Every story has 3 parts. What are they? Ss see the stages of Anecdotes on PPP.

Productive Task(s) (12-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills by telling our airplane stories

Show Ss the Tell the Story handout. Now you will tell your airplane story. First take time to think and write about your story. Then tell your story to your partner

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Ask Ss questions about using anecdotes. Ask them to share with the other Ss about thier stories. Give correction if necessary on their gramar/speaking.
