  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about Best of British in the context of my free time


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At the end of my TP3, I wanted the students to write four sentences about themselves using the verbs 'have,like,live,work' as a homework. My lead-in will start by asking about this.If anyone has written sentences, those will be read first. After discussing about the sentences written, the game 'hangman' will be played. There will be pictures with their meanings ,but some letters of the meaning are missing. The game 'hangman' is going to be played, amongst students.Teacher asks for a letter, students guess,if that letter is used in the word then,it is written.If it is not used, teacher starts to hang the man on the board.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The students are going to listen to the audio of some verbs.As they listen, one by one, they are going to come to the board and stick the meaning of the picture, which they hear about on the board.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Students are going to first listen an audio about an interview with Ruby and Phil Connor and they are to find three things which Ruby and Phil do in their free time. This will be a pair-work activity. After they listen to the audio, the text will be shown on the board, and they can go further with the activity.Reading for a speacial information. Whole-class Feedback After the Ss are finished with the activity, underline the words: a band noise fantastic the weather rap Talk about them and stick on the board , make drilling for clear pronunciation.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Handouts are given to the Ss.They are going to read the interview again, this time they are going to find out if the sentences true or false.Peer check will be processed.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students are given handouts, with a text about the context.They are going to read and fill in the blanks.Whole class feedback will be processed, the activity will be shown on the board, projector is going to be used. '*go on tour=go from city to city and play concerts.'will be written on the board As a HW, the students will write four sentences about their free time.An example will be written on the board, to make the process clear I play tennis in my free time.
