Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

An anecdote about my experience

Pre-Listening 1 - Vocabulary (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will show two pictures on the projector and ask them what is the difference between them? house and home After that, I will give hand out a list of vocabulary to match with some pictures to check their understanding of the words.

Pre-Listening 2 (5-6 minutes) • To get students thinking about the reading by looking at the picture

I will show them a picture of Ali and Charlie for a minute and I will hand out the text to predict to choose the correct answer. After that, I will play audio to check their answers.

While-Listening #1 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging listening gist task

Students will listen to Ali and Charlie and answer the question What problems are they discussed? Write two problems. Audio 1.26 1- There is no space in Ali's house. 2- Ali does not get independence to have a friend in the house.

While-Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging listening task for specific information

I will hand out some questions to listen for specific information and answer the questions. 1. Who are slipping with Ali? his cousins 2. How old are they? 14 years. 3. Who has a problem with money? Charlie check their answers with a partner.

While-Listening #3 (12-13 minutes) • To provide students with more detail listening task.

I will hand out questions to answer them to get more detail about the text. 1. Why Chalie wants to go to the chop? To get some food. 2. What does Charlie want to get? Some bread and cheese. 3. Who is sleeping with Ali and his brother? Twin cousin 4. Why Ali cannot have any friends? He gets no independence. 5. Who does not have any money? Charlie. Check the answers with your partner.

Post-Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will give handouts and answer the questions and discuss the questions with pairs.
