TP 2
Upper-Intermediate level

Description

This lesson continues with a similar context to the previous lesson, but changes the focus to grammar. This grammar is not new for these Ss, but they still need review and practice to help them decide between present perfect simple and continuous. It will be a guided discovery language lesson (PPP):

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

to encourage Ss to notice the TL (ex 3b), and in this case find out what the Ss know. (ex 3c will round this listening sequence off).

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

– to focus Ss on MFP of the TL. Using a guided discovery worksheet will help make this more S-centred (see below) – (ex 3d – e).

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

to check Ss’ understanding of meaning & form, e.g. through a gap-fill. With higher levels, this is optional, but if you think Ss need something more, choose either ex a or b from p 134.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
