Main Aims

To provide clarification and practice of future predicitons in the context of visions of the future

Procedure (27-45 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T elicits some future phrases Ss have learned in their BB videos. Ss are asked to watch a video and write 3 sentences using some of the future phrases from the BB video.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ss are given HO1 and are asked to read some predictions sentences about life in the future and categorize them into Certain or Possible. Ss compare with their partner. T gets WCFB.

Clarification (4-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, and form of the target language

Ss are asked to work in pairs to complete the rules about the target language. Ss are asked to check in groups. T gets WCFB.

Controlled Practice (7-13 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss work in pairs to rewrite some sentences using the target language. T gets WCFB feedback.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ss make predictions about the future using conversation cards and the target language. T monitors and provides feedback/support/clarification when needed.
