Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To get Ss interested in the topic

Ask Ss what are some questions they would ask someone they just met. Give example question words; How? How many? What? What kind? When? Where? Which? Why? Who?

ex 3a - Listening; play the track, repeat the question words and phrases with the Ss.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1. Explain words students may not be familiar with for activity 3b. ex: prefer, favourite. 2. Ss do activity 3b individually, once they finish they can check with peers. 3. Play audio for Ss to check there answers and go over answers as a whole class in the end.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1 - Ss in pairs use the questions provided in activity 3b to interview each other giving their own answers. 2 - Asking students what are some other questions that they may ask when getting to know someone. Give time for students to think and give ideas. 3 - Ex. 4a: Students will write eight new questions they would ask when meeting someone in small groups. They can look at the examples given in handout to help structure questions and ideas. 4 - Mix up the students have them ask a few of the questions to someone they don't know really well in the class. Switch roles after two questions.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

End of class feed back. Ask students what they learned about each other. Ask students if they have any questions and go over errors that you may have heard during monitoring.
