Description

In this lesson the students will learn the past form of verb to be and practice using it

Materials

Abc Students Book hand out ,white board

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of The past simple in the context of Life stories

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Life questions

Procedure

Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • Grammar focus

The students will have a look at the pictures and answers some questions about the age of the people in the pictures and they have to recognize what do these people do

Stage 1 (3-5 minutes) • Notice the past forms of to be

The students will have a look at the quiz and they have to recognize what is the past form of be

Stage 2 (5-10 minutes) • Practice

They will have to use the prompts to make sentences with was wasn't and were weren't i will try to demonstrate it with a student in order to give better instructions

Stage 3 (5-10 minutes) • Practice

The will complete the questions with was or were and then they have to listen to tape to check their answers

Stage 4 (3-5 minutes) • To notice the weak form of was and were

They will listen again to the tape and then they have to realize the weak forms of was and were and i will try to use some drilling in order to get them understand better

Stage5 (5-10 minutes) • Practice

They will have to work in pairs and ask and answers each other the questions in exercise 2 and if i have more time i will try to change the pairs and i will let them do more practice in order to lead to a better understanding
