Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson sts will have practiced reading for gist and specific information in the context of general information

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T puts on the WB a photo of a football ball and a car T writes on the WB 1- car 2- football T elicit answers for each picture T chests out the HO T gives the HO (F2F beginner p30) T asks SS to match the words to the pictures SS work alone SS check in pairs T check answers on the WB with noticing the pronunciation mistakes T addresses them quickly

Pre-Reading (2-3 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask SS to look at the picture T ( this is Ricardo he is from Peru ) T writes on WB Cecilia Carlos Diego T asks the students who are they ? ( brother, son , wife, daughter) T gives instruction ( read and listen ) SS listen SS check in pairs T WCFB Cecilia is his wife Carlos and Diego are children

Exposure / While-Reading (4-6 minutes) • to provide context for the target language through a text and to provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for the group activity
