Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Elicit target structure from students through situation.

Clarification (7-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-Ask students these questions to check the meaning. *Do I play sports now? (no) * Did I play sports in the past? ( yes) * Is it one single action or repeated action in the past? (repeated) - Ask students these questions to check the form. * What do we use for things that happened in the past but not true in the present? (used to) * What comes after 'used to' ? - Drill 'used to' individually and chorally. -Ask students to work in pairs and give the instructions for activity 1 to check the meaning again. - Ask students to guess the negative form of 'used to' -Ask students to guess the question form of 'used to' - Clarify the negative and question forms of the 'used to'

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ask Ss to do a gap-filler, ask them to check with neighbor, hand them corrected copy.

Free Practice (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask students to work in groups of 3 - Ask Ss to complete a timeline with things they used to do earlier in their lives, Ss ask other members of the group about their old habits, finally, Ss report to whole class.
