Reading ( Tp5)
To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about twins in the context of Life stories
To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a discussion
Procedure (31-43 minutes)
-T demos exercise one to engage the SS into the lesson. -T asks CCQ, for example: - Does she look like her mom or dad ? - mom. -Does he take after his dad or uncle? - uncle. -T writes on the board the word ''Twins'' , demos exercise two, in order to set the context and elicit information from SS.
-T asks SS to have a look at exercise 3, then asks them to read the text quickly within 2 minutes , to answer it. -T asks ICQ: -Are you going to read quickly or slowly? -quickly. -Are you going to work in pairs or alone? -alone. -SS check their answers in pairs. -T provides the answers on the board.
-T asks SS to have a look of the words in the box, and in groups they will use their mobile's dictionaries to check the meanings. -T asks SS to have a quick look at exercise 4, and gives them 5 minutes to read the text again but in details. -T asks ICQ: - Are you going to read quickly or slowly? - Slowly. -Are you going to write or tick the correct statement? - tick. -T monitor while reading then demos exercise 4, asking students to do the rest alone. -SS check their answers in pairs first, then T provides an answer key on pieces of papers on the wall , so they stand up and move around to confirm their answers.
-T demos exercise 5, then do an open pair work activity, so SS will practise the language learnt. then move to a close pair work.
