Description

In this lesson, students will be engaged in productive skill development by practising grammar with a quiz about 20th century. The lesson starts with the quiz and group work on it. This is followed by listening for comprehension. Finally, the lesson ends with a freer practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-The students guess the answers of the questions in the quiz in part 1 in pairs. -The teacher monitors the students and takes notes. -The teacher gives delayed feedback.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

-The students listen to check the answers after delayed feedback in pairs. -They can listen the track if they cannot understand it for the first time.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

-The teacher elicits, models and drills the question and the negative form of The simple past tense by giving examples from the quiz. Like, "When did the twentieth century end?"

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive and receptive skills

-The students do the activity with question words and the correct form of the verbs in groups. -The students listen to part 1 in pairs and thick the things they talk about. -O/C F/B. -The students listen to part 2 and fill in the gaps. -The teacher monitors and gives the answer key.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-The students do a freer activity in groups. They imagine what Bill say about the things in that part. -The teacher monitors and gives delayed feedback on the board.
