Main Aims

  • To provide review and practice of Personality and Appearance Adjectives( Sociable, Sense of Humor, Tall and etc.) in the context of Family and Friends.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan and detailed reading practice using a text entitled ''Who knows you better?'' in the context of Family and Friends.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start with a simple question about choosing an ideal partner: Who do you think can choose a better partner for you? Friends or your parents? By asking this question, I am going to make them ready for better understanding of the reading which is about who chooses better for you?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this Stage, the students will review adjectives of personality and appearance both of which help them to understand the text better and to use them for post-reading activities.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I ask the students to scan the text and to find the relationship between Alice and Katy and whats going to happen?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

To make sure they remember the text content in order to have a good model of describing a friend. They will answer more detailed question.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In this stage, the students will try to describe their friends by asking '' what is he like'' and '' what does he look like''? on which they previously worked through reading.
