Subsidiary Aims

  • To practise why questions and to answer them with because.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will say "I am happy." after introducing myself. Then, I will draw some feelings faces on the board by explaining their meanings.

Highlighting (6-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Show the power point slides in which students can see some emojis and make them repeat after me and teach because answers and why questions.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Teach how to ask a question with why and how to answer it with because and give them practices. Then, students listen to the song and fill in the blanks with feelings.

Free Practice (8-13 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students cut and put the puppets on their fingers and then paint them. Later, they listen to the song again by showing the puppets.
