Description

In this lesson students will practice reading and learn new vocabulary. They will also practise and improve their speaking abilities, by the use of certain activities in classroom.

Materials

Abc Pictures,reading text, hand out including questions for speaking activities

Main Aims

  • Practise reading for specific information.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide To practise controlled speaking.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Set pictures on the screen of a well-known Egyptian spy and two other actors who personalized James Bond character, and play the music of Bond's movie to get the SS into the topic. -Eliciting as much information: Who is this? -Who is this? Bond , - What is his job? A spy. -CCQ: Is he a spy or a singer? a spy - His movies are romantic or action ones? - action movies.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-Focus SS' attention on screen seeing different picture of different vocabulary. -Drill new vocabulary (choral, Group, and individual) and Eliciting.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (1-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Gist/Skim reading: T asks SS to read the text generally in few minutes.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Scanning: SS will read the text in details, to collect as much information as possible. -T monitor class.

Post-Reading/Listening (3-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- T demos the task, and ask SS to answer it individually. -SS will check their answers on pairs, Monitoring. - Provide an answer key on screen.

controlled practice (7-10 minutes) • to provide SS with some general speaking practice, and to enhance their speaking abilities.

- T asks SS general questions, then SS will work in open pairs then get SS to work in close pairs and teacher monitor. For example: -are you tall or short? -what color hair do you have? -do you like action or romantic movies?
