Description

In this lesson Ss present simple and some daily vocabulary through flashcards, and two pieces of worksheet and a group activity. The class starts with flash cards and an easy worksheet from "New English File" and a slightly more difficult exercise and finally a group activity.

Main Aims

  • To introduce Present simple positive and negative sentences, and some question forms. Ss will be able to make Poisitive ,negative sentences in simple present tense.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Ss will learn some vocabulary about daily words. They will also learn question form of present simple tense, but it will not be the main focus. Singular subjects will also not be the main focus.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show flashcards and elicit the vocabulary, and will do drills also back-chain drills. Most drills will focus on senteces with the subjects "I,you,we,they"

Exposure and semi-controlled practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a situation

Ss will complete the pictures, they will use only positive sentences, they will practise negative form in the following exercise. They will learn in small bits. In the third part they will cover the text,look at the pictures and try to make positive and negative questions.

Clarification (7-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ss will the answer questions. In part A they are given options in the second part it is fill-in-the blank activity. If they have difficulty in the second part, guided discovery will be made.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

If there is enough time, Ss will ask questions to their partners using the given material. AT first they will complete the senteces using subject "I" and in the second part they will use "Do you......" to complete the sentences, therefore they will not have difficulty in the following activity.

Free Practice (9-11 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss will be delivered pieces of papers with sentences on it. Instructions will be given and they will try to find the groups they belong to. In this stage modelling is of great importance. After they find their groups they will find a name for their groups. Some flashcards will be shown to remind some related words.
