In this lesson, Students will learn about visiting doctor and describe their pain..and practice speaking about it.

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, The students will be better able to understand how to describe their pain and practice speaking.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide the student with the opportunity to make suggestions for medication:(you should take some tablets..go to bed..and go to the hospital etc.).


Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To get the students engaged and activate their knowledge in relevance to the topic.

- Tell the students that we will know about going to the doctor. - Ask them about the place that they should go to meet the doctor and after their answers show them the pictures about the clinic and the hospital and tell them when they are so sick they call what to bring them to the hospital (ambulance) and write every word they say on board and they write it down to remember it.

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through some pictures about kinds of pain

-Show students the pictures about kinds of pain like: *a headache ..and ask them about the name of the pain let them guess and after this tell them about the all shape of the sentence (He has got a headache) act with fingers -Do the same with (a broken leg ..a cough..a temperature..stomachache..toothache) -Talk about how the doctor ask the people about their problems ..show them the picture about doctor and ask them about what the doctor say to know the problem of the patient. -Tell them that the doctor says : What is the problem!? - Make an example like very short conversation between you and any student to make them remember the question of the doctor and how to describe their pain.

Useful Language (10-15 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

-Write on board what the doctor say (what is the problem!?) -Second part about what the patient say(I have got a headache .....) and put stress marks on every word to make students know the important part and make every word clear with its pronunciation like headache /k/ and cough /f/. -Write about how the doctor feel sorry for you when he says (Oh,dear !...everything is going to be okay..don`t worry) -The last part on board about the suggestions that the doctor say it to the patient. *(you should go to bed/go to the hospital/ have a rest/ take some medicine /take some tablets/go on holiday) put the stress marks on every word..explain the word medicine and tablet by bringing some medicine and tablets with you. -Make them know the difference between the words with (a) and without(a) in simple way.

Speaking (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills.

-Start with example about the role play that they should do ..like you are the doctor and choose a student to be a patient and make a conversation like: Doctor : What is the problem !? Patient: I have got (.....) Doctor: Oh dear ! ...everything is going to be okay ..don`t worry. You should take some medicine. -Make them work in pairs to do the role play and monitor them how they do it one of them is the doctor and one is the patient..by giving them HO about the kind of illness. -Draw on the board a body has a lot of problems and make the all class 2 parts and ask every part to put the name of the illness on the part of body by magnates..and ask every part to see the anther part and if it is correct.

Feedback and Error Correction (2-3 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-Write on board the words that you heard the students said it wrong and correct it.
