Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson SS will be presented with new personal possessions vocabulary
  • By the end of the lesson SS will listening for gist and specific information in the context of Personal possessions

Procedure

Warmer (1-2 minutes) • To review numbers from the previous lesson

T Will ask SS if they remember his/her name Optional T Reminds SS of the numbers T Asks students randomly on WB T WB 40 , 50, 90, etc

Exposure To Vocabulary (1-2 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a situation

T Acts like he lost something T mime ( Mobile Phone ) T Asks what is it in English ? T Elicits ( Mobile phone ) T writes on WB ( Mobile Phone )

Controlled Practice to present Vocabulary (5-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T puts on WB a picture of a mobile phone and jacket T writes On WB 1 Jacket 2 Mobile phone T Elicit the answer of each picture and write it underneath each picture T chested out the HO Straightforward Beginner P.36 after modifying T points out Ex 1 asks SS to match the words with the letters like the WB SS work in pairs Answers a-2 b-11 C-8 d-7 e-9 f-10 g-5 h-3 i-4 j-12 k-6 L-1 T SS check answers on WB T Drills ( an umbrella - Bag - Wallet - Keys - Money - Glasses ) choral and individually T point out (Sunglasses) not (Sun glasses )

Listening for gist (2-4 minutes) • To give SS practice in listening for gist

T Will point out the Picture in Listening Ex 1 on p36 T Asks students Qs How many people in here? what are they talking about ? Try to elicit ( 2 people, talking, Mime that Lee has lost something ) T give instructions SS now listen and find out what is missing from Lee ? SS will listen to 3 conversations SS check in pairs T WCFB on WB

Listening for details (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed,listening tasks and introduce the TL in a cotext

T point out the answers in Listening Ex 1 1- bag 2- glasses 3- wallet T Point out in the picture A, B , C T ask Whats in A ? wallet , bag, glasses ?? !! ?? SS listen to the Listening Ex 2 P 36 SS check in pairs T WCFB on WB

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

A -It's under the table B- It's On the Sofa C - They're in the Jacket T Underlines the TL

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T Takes his Jacket and put it on the chair T Puts his mobile Phone in the pocket of the jacket T ask SS (where is it ?) T Elicit on the WB It's in my jackt If SS had difficulties with prepositions T will write on the WB (Under, On, In, Next to, Behind, in Front of) T Elicit different prepositions with different examples on the WB - on - under It's - next to - the chair - behind - in front of T drills ( Under, On, In, Next to, Behind, Front of) T Asks random SS to CC their understanding T on the WB ( where is it ) T Drill it quickly

Controlled Practice 1 (2-3 minutes) • To concept check and prepare SS for more challenging task

This Stage is optional it depends if all SS understood the meaning from the previous Stage, if so then I will skip this. T asks SS to hold their pen T gives an example with one of the SS T asks SS to ask each other using their own pen T monitor and check SS progress and understanding

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and give students some practice

T WB The man / the table T Ask SS to go to p37 in Straightforward Beginners HO Ex.4 sentence No. 1 T Elicits the answer ( The man is on the table ) SS work alone SS check in pairs T WCFB

Extra Activity (3-5 minutes) • To cover up any time left in the lesson To make SS leave the class happy

T puts SS in groups 4 T gives students numbers from 1 to 4 T check they remember their numbers T gives an example by doing a demonstration ( T put his pen on the chairs and asks if SS can say the sentence ) T asks number 1 from each group to stand up and say the sentence quickly
