Description

in this lesson, students will practice using the collocation with do and make. the lesson starts with setting the context by showing them a picture of a man in front of the crossroad and ask them whether they are decisive or not. After that, they will be asked to discuss some questions from the power point. Next, I will give them a sheet and they should complete the phrases with do or make individually then they will check the answers in pairs. Then, I will elicit some answers and teach the difficult ones. After that, I will give them a controlled practice. then ask them to suggest other solutions to the given problems. finally, they will be divided into three teams. I will give each team strips of papers and they will write some social problems and suggest some solutions.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation and open discussion in the context of social problems and decision making.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

show them a picture of a man in front of a crossroad. ask them if they are decisive or not. ask them to discuss the questions on the power point in pairs.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

give them a gap-filling sheet. individually, they should try to choose the right collocation.s. they will check their answers in pairs.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

I will elicit the answers from them. I will teach the difficult ones. practice meaning pronunciation and form.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

I will give them the controlled practice. they will complete it individually first. they will check it in pairs. I will listen to their answers. give them the answer key for the first and the second task.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will divide them into groups. each group will write few social problems on strips of paper. I will exchange the problems with the other teams. each team will discuss the possible solutions for the provided problems.
