Main Aims

  • Grammar :To provide clarification and practice form of irregular verbs in past simple Ex...( toady i eat an apple ,yesterday i ate an apple).

Subsidiary Aims

  • Reading Ss. will read a text about Lura birthday part ,and will answer a question for gist and question for details.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*Show Ss. a picture for a birthday party. *ask Ss. some questions to elicit the time and the place ex:- what is the best part of your birthday party? - what is your favorite food? - what was your favorite birthday person? open discussion in group then the whole class feedback

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

set Ss. in pairs and give clear instructions about the first activity; reading for gist. Ex read the text and answer. 1-Where we go last night? 2-what we eat and drink ? 3-who we meet at the party? Ss. check the answers together,

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Set Ss. in group ,and ask them to read the text again and to underline the irregular verbs in the text .. Ss. check the answers together and then the whole class feedback project

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

*T Draw 2 tables on the board one now i ......... the other yesterday i .............. *classify the sentences under the right headings . *Use some CCQ`s to clarify the meaning *Drill the sentence with Ss. for pronunciation.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

*Pass out HO give clear instruction, ask Ss. to work in group to match the pictures *Ss. check the answers together *whole class feedback

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

*Pass out HO give clear instruction -Fill in the blanks with one of the 8 irregular past tense in the box (went / met /ate / drank /did / saw / spent / wrote ) 1- He .............his homework before he went to school. 2-It was cold so we ............ some hot chocolate. 3-I ...........two slice of pizza so i am full. 4-I friends when we went to the park. 5-We.............Elham in town few days ago. 6-I the cinema there times last week. 7-Anna................a lot of money. 8-Mozart ................more than 600 pices of music. *Monitor the activity.. *Peer correction if necessary

Free Practice (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

*Set group and ask them to write three sentence about What did you do last weekend? *Ss report on each other
