Description

In this lesson students will practice and learn correct use of -hypothetical possibilities with 'if' through guided activities based on questions ( I were you........I would) ( If I were invisible........I would) They will think about what what they would do if they were invisible for a day. There will be controlled listening practices in the end.

  • By the end of the lesson students will have practiced their ability to listen for gist and detailed comprehension in the context of hypothetical possibilities with if ( I you were invisible what would you do)

  • By the end of the lesson students will of had fluency practice.

Procedure

Introduction • To set lesson context and engage students

Ensure Students are seated appropriately for GW and PW with an even mix of stronger and weaker students. Hello students Introduce myself to any new Students who may have joined. Ask new Students to make name signs. Introduce topic Distribute handouts.

Exposure .

To provide context for the target language through pictures about 6 different people with different wishes if they were invisible, and to activate schemata. To highlight and To draw students attention to the target language through activity about various wishes. To introduce a small amount of new lexis

Activity 1 • Free Practice To provide students with free practice of the target language during a writing and speaking activity in the context of What would you do if you were invisible for a day.

Try to elicit word run someone over. Try to elicit word bully someone. Clarify meaning using body language. write the word one the white board with example and definitions. Ask Students to focus on the words and discuss meaning in pairs. Ask Students in pairs to try to give me some examples check them.

Activity 2 • check the meaning of imaginary.

Ask students what would you do if you were invisible. Give them 3 minutes to think about the activity. Ask students to read what six people said the would do if they were invisible. Distribute photos of the six people with their wishes Ask students which answer is most similar to yours. which do you think is the most interesting. we discuss in group, listen to their answer and give some feedback.

Activity 3

Ask which sentence describes a real situation and an imaginary situation. Give students moment to think about the answer and checking with the class.

Practice • To concept check and prepare students through a controlled practice

Ask students to work in pairs; Ask them to use contractions where possible when they will do the activity. we discuss the questions. I will go through each questions. play the recording for students to check their answer. give explanations and feedback.
