Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows students a picture of a house and gives them some details about it and then asks them if they would like to live in that house or not ? Why and why not ? T asks students to describe their dream house.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T sets the context ; T tells students that they are going to listen to a dialogue between three persons,one of them is the estate agent and the other two are married couple who came to see a house that they want to rent T writes a question on the board and asks the students to work in pairs to think of the answers T gives students feedback

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T asks students to work in pairs T hands one student (student A) a picture of a room with few things in it and hands the other student (student B) a list of items T asks student B to ask student A about these items and tick the ones that exist T then elicits the target language from the students

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T clarifies the meaning ,form and pronunciation of the target language T ask CCQs to check students' understanding

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gives students hand outs with some sentences and gaps to fill T asks students to work in pairs to fill in the gaps T asks students ICQs to check their understanding T gives students feedback T hands students the answer key

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T gives students some handouts and asks them to work in pairs to answer them the handouts contain some pictures and choices under them T asks students to check their answers in groups T gives SS feedback T gives students the answer key

Free Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T puts ss in pairs A and B, and give them out a sheet .T explains that they are going to role-play a conversation to rent a flat T tells students who have sheet A that they have a flat that they want to rent out.they must read the instructions and information about the flat T tells ss who have sheet B that they need to rent a flat.they have a list of questions that they want to ask.they must read the instructions and prepare their questions . T asks ICQs to check students understanding : Who is student A? are you renting your house or looking for house to rent ? Who is student B ? are you renting your house or looking for house to rent ? T monitors to make sure the the As understand all their information and the Bs are clear what questions they have to ask After a few minutes tell SS to start the conversation.Remind SS that the conversation is on the phone .Tell as to start with Hello? At the end of the conversation get feedback to see which Bs decided to rent the flat.
