Time out (unit3)
To provide clarification and practice of be going to vs. Present Cont. in the context of Time out
To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a dialogue in the context of Time out
Procedure (53-70 minutes)
Working in pairs Ss will complete a task (Ex.1 page.26) based on Present Simple and Present cont. Peer check.
Ss will make sentences using the words given in the handouts. They will talk to each other, I will give feedback on their speech. As the next step Ss will match questions with answers as a group.(Ex:3A p.26)
Ss will read sentences in Ex:4 (p.29) and think about their meanings, I will ask questions such as "Do the sentences refer to the present or the future?", "Is there a definite time and place for the plans?" "What tenses do the sentences use?".
I will clarify that Present Cont and "be going to" are used to make plans about the future. I will elicit their structures from the Ss and highlight them on the board.
Working as a group Ss will match the words related to Time out Vocabulary. (Ex:1A p.28)
They will listen to Ex:3B (p.32) and complete the gaps. Peer check.
Ss will make 5 sentences about their future plans using the structure of "be going to". I will give feedback on the accuracy and fluency.
