Description

In this lesson, students will learn about jobs and what they do. The lesson starts with what jobs Ss know in English. This is followed by a reading text from SB pg. 24 where they match people with the correct photos. Moreover, Ss will learn ‘What’s your job’ to ask about jobs. Ss also learn the use of a/an with jobs.

Main Aims

  • To introduce & give practice in the lexical set of jobs.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give Ss practice in reading for specific information.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To engage studets with jobs

I will be eliciting jobs vocabulary they already know and preparing them to talk about jobs.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will put flash cards of jobs on WB and Ss will match jobs with the flash cards. Ss will also learn pronunciation of jobs.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T explains the jobs on page 24 from SB and asks Ss to match the pictures with the right answers.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T will teach Ss the use of a/an and 'What is = What's' contraction.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To understand jobs vocabulary

Ss will read the text on page 24 SB and match each sentence with the right picture. They also complete the chart with the names, countries and jobs from the previous exercise. T checks their answers after Ss finish their task.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T will distribute job cards to the Ss and get them mingle asking and answering about jobs.
