Description

In this lesson,students will be exposed to vocabulary words about travel.After initial exposure to the words,students will apply their knowledge to pay an engaging vocabulary,following by a real world writting prompts .

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide new vocabulary about travel especially dealing with airport vocabulary.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Use accurate vocabulary to identify airport vocabulary.Evaluate a real world situation to determine which form of travel is most appropriate.Argue which mode of travel is the best in a writing prompt.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

writing two question on the board:Do you like travelling?Which mean of transport do you prefer?Do you like travelling by plane?Do you like/dislike spending time at the airport? sticking pictures of Hong Kong international airport and asking students which mean of transport we find there? Sticking pictures about International airport of Hong Kong and explain the different procedures that a passenger might do.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Learners cooperation by handing out a worksheet containing different pictures and some descriptions that they have to match. students work about it and work in pairs to do it.When they finish,answers are discussed to find the right ones.

Highlighting (2-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

This is a fun way to introduce the language and vocabulary for talking about the airport and travel to English language learners.Pictures help to stimulate students'minds and engage their interest quickly.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this case,it will be easier .First clarifying with learners what is being said.It means the spelling of the words

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The English language exercise introduces essential airport vocabulary. Reading sentences from a to j Then trying to put them in the right order. Explaining the words written in bold if necessary.( b- p 44)From Cutting Edge for Elementary students . Listen and check.Learners are going to listen to audio 5.3. While listening learners arrange the sentences.When they finish,they check their answers with their partners. In the next task(3)learners will be devided into two groups in which they will have handouts containing travel vocabulary as a review .The first group will have the words and the second one will have definitions.So,one from the first group give the word and from the other group they try to give the definition and vice versa.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

This is another way to get learners feedbacks.Focusing on the vocabulary for talking about airport and travel ;learners will produce through practice.Since they are engaged ,they will have a to choose the correct word to complete different short dialogues.
