Description

In this lesson Ss. will have the opportunity to read and speak about family member. Ss. will answer a questions for gist and questions for details, and they will use the Vocabulary of family member in a variety of Activities.

Main Aims

  • Vocabulary: To provide practice and clarification of vocabulary including (Parents ,Grandmother, grandfather,cousin) in the context of family member

Subsidiary Aims

  • Reading: To provide the students with the practice in the skill of reading for gist in the context of Family Member..

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*Projected a picture of a big family try to elicit the different Vocabulary of the family members . *discus the following questions? how many people are there in that family? who`s the oldest one?who is the youngest one? Pick a family member ..describe looks outside and character inside? Is family important to you? what about yours (Ss. discus in pairs)..open discussion then the whole class feedback T elicit the topic from Ss.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

* Set Ss in groups, and ask them to read the text again and to underline the world related to the family member .. * ask Ss. to Read and Write the names in the boxes.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

• Set Ss in Group, and give cleat instructions about the first activity; reading for gist. • E.X. Read the text and choose the best title; - Meet my family - great family - English family • Ss check the answer together, and then whole class feedback. • Peer correction if necessary.

Clarification (4-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ask Ss. to check the photo and mark true or false EX: 1-My grandparents live in a town. (T) or (F) 2-My grandfather has got farm animals. (T) or (F) 3-My brother likes fishing. (T) or (F) 4-I have got a sister. (T) or (F) 5-My brother plays with puzzles. (T) or (F) 6-My sister is older than me. (T) or (F) 7-My aunt has got one daughter. (T) or (F) 8-My cousin has got many friends. (T) or (F)

Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

• Pass out a gap-fill HO, and ask Ss. to work in group to complete the Sentences: 1-My grandfather `s name is ............................... 2-My sister`s name is ....................... 3-My cousin`s name is ....................... 4-My father`s name is ................ 5- My .......................name is Lisa. 6-My ........................name is Emma. 7-My ........................name is Amelia. 8-My ........................name is Ted.

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

* Pass out HO give clear instruction Unscramble family words and find the hidden message. * Monitor the activity. * Peer correction if necessary.

Free Practice (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

• Set Ss in group and ask them to speak about their Families. • Ss report on each other.
