TP1 - Practicing question forms with auxiliary verbs

In this lesson students will practice using the auxiliary verbs in question forms by speaking and reading activities.

Warmer/Lead in (4-6 minutes) • To get the students attraction, to engage students with the task and prepare for the next stage

T will show Ss the coloured papers on which there are the auxiliary verbs and will elicit some question forms with them. Then, T will ask Ss to make their own question forms with them. Later, T will ask for pairs Ss to make a dialogue with the questions that they make with the ''auxiliary verbs'' randomly chosen by T according to the same coloured papers.

WB Activity (8-10 minutes) • To practice question forms with auxiliary verbs by correcting the gramatical mistakes in the questions

T will chest the HO showing the Speaking 1 activity and will tell the Ss that something is wrong with the questions and need to be corrected. While handing the HOs T will pair the Ss to work together. While Ss are busy with the correcting, T will put the printed papers in order according to the exercises and will put the extra ( correct ) auxiliary verbs around the sentences. When the WB is ready, T will choose randomly to correct the sentences on the WB.

Pre- Reading / Speaking practice with the auxiliary verbs in question forms (3-4 minutes) • To prepare the students for the activity

T will open the TP1A projector image and let it be seen on the WB. Then will show the four different HOs telling that each of them is about four different people in the photograph. Will ask them to read it and will give the HOs as in order (A-B-C-D).

Reading / Speaking activity (7-9 minutes) • To practice the question forms with auxiliary verbs and using them in dialogues

T will group the Ss as four each. In each group they will have A-B-C-D reading paragraph. T will ask them to ask the questions in exercise 1 (will be on WB as well) and ask Ss to think about who will Christine get in touch with first. After giving them enough time, T will ask one-two groups about their idea about who will Christine get in touch with.

Detailed reading - speaking (8-10 minutes) • To prodive Ss with more detailed reading and speaking exercise

T will chest the HO showing the reading paragraph and will ask Ss to read it carefully and discuss about it with their pairs. While they are discussing about it, T will put the facebook website's logo onto WB. After T gives enough time for reading, will elicit from Ss about the relation of the paragraph with the image on the board and the function of this website. Then T will pair the Ss and ask them to talk about their friends that they are still in touch-with.

Post reading activity (6-8 minutes) • To check the Ss ability about the task and the context

T will chest the HO and will ask the students to think about 20 years later from today and fill the gaps according to their imaginary world. After they finish with the filling, T will pair them and ask Ss to learn about their ideas. Then T will ask Ss randomly to tell about their friends' ideas.
