In this lesson, Students will develop their listening skills as well as learning new vocabulary, by exposing them to different listenning tasks in the conext of childhood and upbringing.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*T talks about her own childhood and upbringing *T divides Ss into pairs *T invites Ss to talk about their own childhood with each other *T Elicits answers from them

Pre-Teach blocking vocabulary (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

*T Tries to elicit the words (upbringing, punished, praised, criticise) From Ss *T Explain the meaning of each one *T models and drills chorally and individually *T gives the form *T asks CCQ's 1) does upbringing means the treatment of your parents throughout your childhood? YES 2) being punished is something positive or negative? NEGATIVE 3) being praised is the same as being punished? NO 4)To criticise is to have a good opinion? NO

Listening for gist (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

*T divides Ss into pairs *T asks a question "what do Rafael and Emily talk about?" *T asks Ss to check their anwers in pairs *T Elicits answers from Ss

While/Listening, (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

*T asksSs to work in pairs *T asks students to match each fact with its gategory *T plays the audio *T asks Ss to check their answers with partner *T elicits answers from them

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned, as well as applying the lexis part of the lesson

*T asks Ss to read the facts in the handout individually *T asks Ss to divide the Emily's statements and Rafael Statements without listening o the audio *T asks Ss to work with partner *T asks students to check their answers with partner *T elicit answers from Ss

Freer Practice (6-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice what they learnt
