Description

in this lesson, students will work on the grammar part. to start with, the teacher reviews some parts of grammar are related to the possessive pronouns and adjective pronouns which the students have studied before in order to involve students more to the activities and the students are supposed to do the exercises. Last but not least, the adverbs will be taught to students. Finally, they are asked to write some sentences with the different types of adverbs.

Main Aims

  • To provide the grammar about the adverbs and make the clarification about the different types and their rules.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To review the part of grammar about the possessive pronouns and adjective pronouns and do some exercises about them.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-The teacher writes the possessive pronouns and adjective pronouns on the board to review the grammar. -The teacher elicits the grammar to students. -After that, the teacher asks students to open their grammar book. -One of the students is asked to read the box in the grammar book loudly in order to grab the students' attention into the part of the lesson.

Exposure (10-18 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-The students are supposed to do the exercise in grammar book. -Exercise one and two: the students have to tick the correct sentence and write the correct answer. -The teacher clarifies the exercise and does the first part of the exercise as an example. -Then the teachers gives them time to do the exercises individually. -The teacher starts monitoring while they are doing. -There is a whole class feedback. -Exercise three and four: the students are supposed to circle the correct answer and complete the sentences with possessive pronouns. -The teacher gives them time to do them -The teacher monitors closely. if a student has a problem or does not know a thing, the teacher helps her. -The teacher tells them to switch their books with a partner whom the teacher chooses them randomly. -The students are supposed to check partner's answer. in addition, if the answer is incorrect, the should correct them. -The teacher monitors them attentively while they are checking each other. -Then the students give back their books. -The teacher reads the sentences loudly for giving the correct answers. -All students tell the answers. -There is a feedback. -Exercise five: the teacher clarifies the exercise and does the first part of the exercise as an example. -The students are supposed to do it individually. -The teacher starts monitoring. -The teacher asks one student who is sure all her answers are correct to write them on the board. -Then others check their answers. -When the teacher finds something wrong on the board, she asks students to get the correct answer and then explain it more to solve the problem. -Then the teacher gives the correct answer.

Highlighting (5-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-The teacher starts to teach adverbs. -The teacher chooses one student to come in front of the class. -The teacher tells her to walk quickly and walk slowly. The student is acting it out and others are looking at her friend. The teacher tries to grab their attention. -Then the teacher writes these sentences on the board. -Also. the teacher writes another examples in order to involve students more. -The teacher gives them a chance to express their ideas.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-According to the examples are written on the board, the teacher elicits the rule. -The students find that the adverbs are made adjective+ly. -The teacher asks:" what is the difference between adjective and the adverb?" and "What is the adjective?" -After that they comprehend it completely, the teacher asks each student "Do you think all adverbs are made adjective+ly?" -Then the teacher teaches different kinds of adverbs with some examples. -The teacher clarifies them completely.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-The students are supposed to do the exercise in their student's book. -The teacher divides the students in pairs. -The teacher gives the instruction and clarifies the exercise for them. -According to the pictures, they are supposed to ask and answer from their partners. -The teacher starts to monitor while they are speaking with each other. -There is a feedback. -According to the pictures, the teacher asks students to write the sentences individually and use different adverbs in their writing. -The teacher monitors them and see their sentences. -The teacher helps them if they have questions. -Then the students read their sentences. -There is a feedback.
