Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of an article in the context of travel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of language used for recommendation in the context of travel.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start my lesson by talking about my trip to Turkey. I will show them some photos of famous places in Turkey that my friend recommended that I should do or visit. then I give them 2 to 3 minutes to give me some recommendation. put them in groups/pairs( depending on the number of the students) get their feed back about what they have discussed in their groups.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

after finishing with the lead in part, I will tell them that one of my friends send a recommendation article. "READ THE TEXT AND TELL ME WHERE IS THIS PLACE?" hand them the articles (sample writing) give them 2 minutes ICQ: how much time do you have? 4 mins tell them to check their understandings in groups elicit the answer

Useful Language (5-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

in this part, I will use power point to let the students see the text together. and then highlight the functions ( useful expressions they can use to recommend a new place) explain the language they need to use.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ask the students to think about Turkey or their any other country that she/he has information about. write a short paragraph( 6 lines) of recommendation tell them they have 15 minutes. ICQ: are you going to talk or write? write ICQ: how many line are you going to write? 6 lines ICQ: how much time do you have? 15 mins I will monitor them the whole time, make sure they have no problem writing the article after they are done, ask them to stick their writings to the wall ask the students to stand up and read each others articles and choose the best one

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

while the students are reading their friends writings I take notes of their errors write them on the board check with the students.
