Description

In this lesson, sts learn common adjectives and their grammatical position, and to give simple descriptions of things and people through iconic aspects of the USA. Lesson begins with a vocabulary focus on common adjectives. Afterthe grammar practice, sts go on to a pronunciation focus on long and short vowel sounds. Sts go back to the vocabulary bank to look at adjectives used to describe people through reading, writing and speaking.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (26-35 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Write The USA on the board and ask sts to tell you things which they think are typically American.. E.G Hollywood, Hamburgers... Write suggestions on board. Practice pronouncing the vowels. a,e,i,o,u Open books. Page 14 1a. what colour is the American flag? write the missing letters. 1b. Complete the colors. 1c.In pairs ask your partner what color the brazilian flag is... Goover the answers. PAGE 152... Match pictures with adjectives/words. Listen and check. AUDIO FILE 60 listen and repeat. 1c. Opposites. Bad-good. I help people, ı am good. ı hit people, I'm bad. Opposites. Match c with a. Show with finger. Listen and check. AUDİO FİLE 61.
