Description

In this lesson, the students will be shown pictures of different modes of transport. They will then brainstorm on the different modes of transport in their country, do a prediction task, listen and then write notes on the advantages and disadvantages of each mode of transport from the listening.

Main Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of Real lives in the context of advantages and disadvantages of different modes of transport.

  • To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about Transport in the context of Modes of transport in India

Procedure

Lead in (3-4 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students

show ss different pictures of diff modes of transport elicit the meaning of "Modes of Transport" Ss brainstorm on other modes of transport Ss identify the different modes of transport in their country. Ss talk about their preferred mode of transport an d why they don't use the other modes of transport.

Unlock key lexis (1-2 minutes) • to aid in the understanding of the text.

Teacher Elicits the meaning of, *Public transport *Freight *Afford

prediction task (3-5 minutes) • Prepare the ss for the listening.

ss using their knowledge on the topic choose a correct answer for question then listen while watching and check their answers. Project the AK

Listening for details (6-7 minutes) • to practice listening for key information.

Tt gives students 1 minute to go through the notes. Ss listen and complete notes about the different modes of transport. Ss check their answers with partners. Do whole class feedback

Post listening task (8-9 minutes) • To provide freer practice

Ss complete a table by giving two advatages and disadvantages of each mode of transport in the table. Ss compare the answers with partners... Finally put the ss into groups of 4 get them to discuss different questions on the same topic. ex 5 pg 71 Tt monitor to see if the students are on task or need help.
