Description

In this lesson, students will learn new clothes vocabulary in the context of buying clothes in a clothes shop.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of types of clothes in the context of bying clothes in a clothes shop

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about buying clothes in a shop

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students and create a need for the lesson.

1.Present a video 50 seconds that shows a woman who is shopping. 2.Ask students (Do you like shopping? I like buying clothes. what about you?) 3. Ask ss to answer and ask the same question to their peers.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1. Ask students to listen to the dialogue 2. Monitor. 3.Fill In the gaps 4. Ask students to check in pairs. 5.Give answer sheet. 6. Ask students to listen again and answer the following questions: What size does Ally want? How much is the shirt? How does Mark pay? 7. Students check in pairs. 8.Give answer key.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. Put some clothes in a gallery in the class. 2. Put a folded card with the type of clothes. 3.Drill each word before students see it.( a suit,shoes, a wedding dress,a jacket, jeans, a shirt, a t- shirt, a sweater, trousers, sandals, track suit, dress, a cap, a scarf) 4.write the words on the board. 5. Present some expressions and questions that students can use when they go shopping : what size is this? how much is it? where can I try it on? Do I pay in cash? do you have another color? 6. Show these expressions in the PowerPoint. 7. Students practice asking these questions in pairs .

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1. Ask students to match the word with the picture (2 minutes) 2. Ask students to check in pairs 3. Give answer key.

Free Practice (12-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1. Tell students that today is black Friday, there is a sale . 2.Distribute pictures and labels with each picture . 2.Divide the students into two groups 3. A sales assistant and customers in each group. 4. Give the customers money(cards ) 5.Ask students to move to the shops 6. Give students questions to use. 7. Demonstrate. 8. Students start to buy and sell. 9. Monitor with a paper and write comments to use in feed back.
