I've got the funniest one. One day my ex-boyfriend said 'You buy a lot of books.' and never called me again. It was the funniest reason to end a relationship for me. Do you have any funny reason for a break-up? Think for a moment, and write it. Tell your partner." I'll ask a few students for their answers.

Highligthing (3-5 minutes) • To focus students on the TL and find out what they know about the TL.

Ask students "Can you guess what did I do after break-up?" Listen some ideas for a while, then say "I called my best friend, and my first sentence was: (Start to use the powerpoint and let students to read the sentence) 'He said that I bought a lot of books!' By using the powerpoint slide, I'll explain the meaning first. I'll tell students that we use reported speech to report what someone else said. By using the model sentence I'll ask CCQs to clarify the meaning. After that I'll show the forms of the reported speech sentences and questions. Finally I'll make them to practice on pronunciation. When I finish explaining MFP, I'll ask them to look at HO1 and to rewrite their sentence in the form of reported speech. Pair check. WCFB.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To consolidate and provide students with controlled practice of form.

I'll show students HO2 and then tell them to work in pairs and find out and underline the reported speech sentences from the texts of the website. When they finish they'll read the sentences. After that they'll change their pairs and try to write the reported speech sentences in the direct sentence form. WCFB

I'll show HO3 to the students and ask them to change the direct speech into reported sentences and questions. Student will work individually. Then PC and after that I'll share the answer key and ask students if they have the same results. If there are mistakes, I'll correct their mistakes.

Freer Practice (10-12 minutes) • To give students more meaningful practice with the target language.

I'll tell students to answer the questions on HO4 and write their names on it. Then they'll put their papers in a bag. When I collect all the papers, I'll mix the papers in the bag, and put the bag on the desk. All students will come one by one and pick a paper, then read the answers of their friends' and tell the reported speech form of the sentences in their groups.During the activity, I'll write the errors on the board and do the error correction.
