Description

The students will practice their writing skills about describing their family members in the context of writing an email using adjectives.

Main Aims

  • To enable students practice their writing skills of describing a person in the context of writing an email

Subsidiary Aims

  • To enable students read an email for specific purposes, make them recognize the features of reading an email
  • To provide students enough practice with personality adjectives and the modifying expressions
  • To practice students' reading for specific details skills

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students.

T asks students if they write any emails during the day or if they're using their emails actively. T elicits some answers.

Reading for details (5-7 minutes) • To provide a context for students' production expected in coming tasks through reading

Students read the text to find out the answers for the questions. (Reading for detail) Sts pair check their answers. After, T elicits answers and give feedback. Sts then read and do B part. They check in pairs and T gives wholeclass feedback.

Useful Language (5-8 minutes) • To highlight, clarify and remember useful language for writing a descriptive text

Students complete activity 1 in page 146. Sts pair check first, then T provides answers.T goes over the pronunciation. T provides whole class feedback.

Productive Task-Writing An Email (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice students' writing skills in the context of writing

Students writes an email responding to Stephanie's email, using 4 paragraphs. T monitors.

Post-Writing (3-4 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production, use of language

Students swap their papers and read each others' emails. They also correct any mistakes they see. T collects students' paper to give feedback later.
