Description

In this lesson, the Ss will review the grammar of superlative adjectives through correcting the mistakes in the France travel guide. Then they make questions that can be asked to write a travel guide about Turkey. Finally, they write the Turkey travel guide by answering the questions they have made.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The meaning of the word "travel guide" is first elicited .The Ss are told that they are going to read a France travel guide which is written by some Ss before. Some key vocabularies like "popular, "high", "mountain", "river", "wet", and "windy" in the text are pre-taught at this point.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

The grammar review HO's in the context of France travel guide is given out and one is put on the w/b. Ss are told there are some mistakes in the text which must be corrected by them. They are put in pairs and after they check the answers with their partners, a w/c FB is taken on the w/b.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming writing task

The Ss are told they are going to make some questions using the prompts and superlative form of the adjectives in the Turkey Travel Guide question HO. The HO's are given out. The Ss are put in pairs to complete the task. A quick w/c FB is taken.

Productive Task-writing (15-17 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills-writing

The Ss are told they are going to prepare the Turkey travel guide by giving a complete answer to the questions in the Turkey travel guide question HO's, one of which is put on the w/b. They are put in three groups. The empty Turkey travel guide HO's are given out, one to each group. A time limit of 12 to 14 minutes is set. Each group selects a script to write their answers. Errors will be put on the board by monitoring the Ss while they are writing.

Feedback and Error Correction (6-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

When all three groups are done with the writing, they are told to exchange their travel guide with other groups to check any wrong answer or grammatical and spelling mistake. One student in each group reads the travel guide for others. After all three groups are done with checking, the three travel guides will be put on the board. The final w/c FB is taken for any misspelling and grammatical mistake.
