Description

In this lesson Ss will practise and extend their lexis regarding different situations of social behaviour.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of lexis regarding social behaviour in the context of everyday situations.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of everyday social situations.

Procedure

Warmer & Pre-Teach (15-15 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students. To make Ss familiar with the new vocabulary and clarify the meaning form and pronunciation of it.

Get the Ss to stick the words on the w/b. Ask these questions and eleicit: 1. What do you do before going to a party? (dress up) 2. What do you do when you want to go to a very expensive restaurant? (book in advance) 3. Who pays the bill when you have dinner with a friend? (split the bill) Ask student to stick the pictures on the w/b. Ask them to match the pictures with the words on the w/b.

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice.

Explain Ss to circle the answer they consider more appropriate. Give Ss HO1. When finished, put Ss in small groups to discuss the aswers together. Ask: Do any of these these depend on the circumstances?

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To practise the new vocabulary.

Exlpain Ss they have to fill a crossword whith the sticked words on the w/b. Put Ss into pairs & give them the HO2. FB: divide the answers (across / down) and stick them on the wall. Ask Ss to check.

Free Practice (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language.

Divide Ss in 2 groups ---> Gr. 1: business lunch ----> Gr. 2: romantic dinner Ask them to discuss in groups how they would behave in the given situation: a. clothes b. restaurant c. transport d. bill e. thank you note f. saying goodbye
