Description

In this lesson Ss integrate the listening and speaking to practice the correct usage of "some and "any " and vocabulary related to the topic "Food and Drink". s . This will be followed by he speaking practice based on a video where the will exhibit the use of correct vocabulary and grammar in the context of Food and ordering for food.

Main Aims

  • To use knowledge of vocabulary and quanntifiers "some and "any " in comprehending the listening task in context of food and drink.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The students would be divided into groups of 3/4 depending on the attendance and they will try to unscramble the words . The group which gets the answer first and raise the hand .after all the words have been unscrambled , all of the students would classify these according to their likes and dislikes .

Grammar Focus : some and any (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students to use "some" and "any" effectively in the listening and speaking task.

Students look at the photos given in the book(pg 52) listen to the audio 6.2(Cutting Edge Student book, and state whether the the sentences are "True" or "False".. I'' explain that "some" is used for positive sentences but "any " is used for negative sentences and questions. Exceptions 1. when we offer something to someone we say " would you like some tea?" 2. if we ask an question and expect the answer to be to be yes , we use "some" Example : Did you do some homework? Ans : Yes, of course . I did !

Pre listening • to prepare students to revise a few vocabulary words that they are going to encounter in the listening task

Students look at the photos on page 56 (Cutting edge ) and ask few questions like what kind of restaurant do you prefer : a cheap or an expensive one ? , "when do you have a special meal with your family?

pre listening and while listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will revise vocabulary from the sentences and listen to the audio 6.4 and answer the questions in pairs for specific details . Students will listen to the audio and practice the useful phrases to describe the favourite restaurant.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

students will use the useful vocabulary words to speak about their favourite restaurants by using target vocabulary and "some and "any."

Reflection and Homework • To revise and practice what the students have learnt

Students play a memory game using the picture on page 135 , ex 3a and have speaking exercise . home work : Workbook exercise 3 a , 4A and 5a and send their recordings to the teacher.
