Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T to show a video to ss to set them up with the context of the lesson. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzL6Ww7xUWc) -T to set a task to ss by telling their thoughts about what they they are going to see.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T to provide ss with a text and ask them to read it carefully and circle the verbs they see. T will elicit the target language that is used in the text from the ss

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T to highlight the target language by giving an example and write it on the board and ask the students to give an example of their own using the present progressive or the continuous. "I am teaching English"

Clarification (10-20 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will clarify the meaning of the Present continuous and when it is used. Then, The teacher will write the form on the board with an example. After that, T will place the stress on the appropriate place in the example he set. 1-Clarification of the meaning: The present continuous tense is used for actions happening now or for an action that is unfinished. This tense is also used when the action is temporary. 2- The form: - Affirmative: Subject+ to be (is, are) + base form of the main verb+ing - Negative: Subject+ to be( is, are)+ Not+ base form of the main verb+ing -Interrogative: To be (is, are)+ Subject+ base form of the main verb+ing+? 3- Pronunciation: Affirmative: You are 'studying 'English 'grammar Negative: You are not 'driving the car Interrogative: Are you still 'working for the same 'company? *T to drill the sentences.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-T to give students a task and ask them to put the verbs between brackets in the correct form ( either Present simple or Present continuous) -WC FEEDBACK

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T to put Ss in pairs and ask them to talk about what their family members are probably doing now. Monitor and write good and bad language of Ss. Answer Ss' questions if needed.

Free Practice (13-20 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T to give Ss a set of questions and ask them to discuss them in groups/pairs. The following questions will be delivered to the students to choose: What are you doing this year to improve yourself? What do you think your best friend is doing right now? Are you reading any interesting books these days? Which ones? What TV shows are you watching now? Think of your favorite celebrity. What do you think they are doing right now? Who are you hanging out with a lot these days? What projects are you working on this week? What are you studying these days? Show your partner a picture on your phone. Describe what is happening in the photo. What is your favorite sports team? How are they doing this season?
