Description

In this lesson, students will review the vocabulary from the previous lesson. They will have speaking activity about the cinema and they will interview each other. Finally, they will have listening activity about an interview with Dagmara.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of cinema

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about an interview with Dagmara in the context of a film

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher shows a picture and students will try to guess the topic. To review the previous lesson, students will do exercises 4a. Then they will look at the text from previous lesson and check the answers in pairs.

Pre-Speaking / Vocabulary (8-9 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

To review the vocabulary and prepare students for the speaking activity, T gives students a matching activity from Vocabulary Bank (page 154). After matching, students will check in pairs. Later, students will check their answers from the answer sheet, was provided by teacher on the wall before the lesson. If it is necessary, the teacher elicits vocabulary.

Speaking (10-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students will read the questionnaire and think about their answers. Then, they will interview each other in pairs and discuss the question "Do you have similar tastes?" Later, talk about it in the class.

Pre-Listening (5-6 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to get prepared for the listening activity

Students will look at the photograph and answer the questions in pairs (exercises 6a). "Who do you think the man and woman are?", " Where do you think they are?", "What film do you think was being made?", "What do you think is happening?"

Listening (10-10 minutes) • To allow students to improve their listening skills

T plays the first part of an interview with Dagmara. Later, students will listen again and answer the questions in the exercise 6c. Then, they will check in pairs.

Language Practice (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Students listen the second part of the interview. They make notes under the headings below and they will compare with a partner. If there is time, students will write them on the board.
