In this lesson, ss will deal with the context of the family. They will be exposed to many listening and speaking activities.

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Worlds apart in the context of Family

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T Will show a video to the SS related to the topics of the text and he will ask ss to tell what they had seen. What do you think of the video?

Pre-teach vocab (5-6 minutes) • to facilitate ss understanding of the lesson

T will pre-teach students the vocabulary that they will deal with during the lesson. T to teach them the following vocabulary: -Bilingual: someone who speaks two languages fluently -close-knit: to have a strong relationship. -cosmopolitan: international

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T to discuss with the students the questions number 1 and number 2 page 12.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-20 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T to ask students to listen to track 1.7 and answer the questions in the exercise number 3 T to repeat the audio track to the ss to make sure they choose the correct answers. SS To underline any questions they could not answer. T then, play track 1.8 for the ss as feedback.

Post-Reading/Listening (14-18 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T to divide students into groups/ pairs and ask them to make list and write the pros and cons of bringing up a family in another country. T to discuss the two lists with the whole class.

Speaking activity (11-16 minutes) • to improve ss fluency and accuracy

T to ask students to discuss the following questions: 1. What do you think of international marriages? 2. International marriage consumes lot of time, money, and effort during preparation 3. Why do people marry someone who has another citizenship? 4. Will there be a problem between the parents who come from different citizenship, cultures and religions to raise their children?
