İn this lesson SS will continue with 1C lesson of Sb, they will use the text they have read before, but this time they will focus on grammar- verb patterns, as well speaking activity will be included

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of verb patterns in the context of education, exams

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a verb patterns after studying TL
  • To provide practice of verbs which are from different verb patterns groups

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows some pictures on the board SS guess the sentence 'ı like drinking beer' 'ı decided to give up doner kebab' What is the grammar? to infinitive or ing form verb patterns

Test #1 (4-5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Referring back to previous topic about exams SS move on doing a test about verb patterns p104-107 SB for A and B SS They have up to 5min to do this SS have special answer sheets to write( they also include their names) When SS finish they can stick their answers

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T asks to look at the text again (SB p 12) Focus on underlined words SS focus T asks what part of speech ? VERBS T. asks SS to be in 4 groups Each group receives a poster to stick verbs to and a set of cards with verbs written on SS devide verbs in groups (they can use text to take example from) SS stick their banner on the WB T gives out HO with example of ALL these verbs in sentences with the correct patterns SS swop groups, go to other banners(T.checks that no-one is checking their own work) they check using examples and correct in red ink T. puts REMEMBER STOP AND TRY on the w/b mimes: what the problem? Elicits answers from Class, shows pictures to see different meaning She remembered to post/ she remembered posting CCQ: what happened first in each case ? put ticks on timelines

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

SS do the same test but they change variants ( a becomes B, B becomes A) - individually SS take back their test 1 Steple it with test 2 Swop Check Report if progress or not Gives back to owners for them to think

Speaking pracitice İF TİME (3-5 minutes) • to provide with an opportunity to pracitse TL through personalized speaking actıvity

SS use their tests A, B( there are all questions) They work in pairs discussing them T. monitors and makes notes of verb patterns examples whole Class feedback
