there is/there are practice
To provide review and practice of "there is/there are" in the context of different places
To provide accuracy speaking practice in a dialogue in the context of different places
Procedure (28-40 minutes)
I will show a picture and ask them to tell me "what do you see in this pic?". Then give them some more pictures to talk and describe what is there.
I will elicit two or three sentences from students and write them on the board.
I will highlight the structure of the sentences. Then give them cut-out papers to put together in the correct order.
I will minimize presentation part, since this grammar is not new for students. I will also demonstrate negative and question forms eliciting the sentences from the ss.
Students will work in pairs asking each other "Is there/Are there?" questions to find out what place is in the picture. During this activity I will monitor them.
Students will describe their neighborhood in 2 or 3 minutes using "there is/there are" structures.
