To provide review and practice of lesson 1 vocabulary and introductions
To provide practice of classroom vocabulary
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
REVIEW HOMEWORK - Pg. 9 & 11 Pg. 4 - Practice Introductions from Lesson 1 Pg. 4 - Have the students close their books (excepting any new students) and review the vocabulary and ask for meanings. Write the words on the board and have them say it and define it.
Pg. 6 - Tic Tac Toe Have the students call out the letters to the teacher and assistant. That way they are able to see how the game is played. Have the students play the game. Play it as long as it seems fun and they are interactive.
Pg. 11 Part 2 - Some of the students may have completed this already. Give other students time to complete it. Pg. 12 Part 4 and Part 5 - Some of the students may have completed this already. Give other students time to complete it.
Pg. 3 - Have a student read the story (in small classes more than one student could read the story) in Kurdish. Read the story to them in English several times. Then have them write the story. Emphasize that they should write ABOVE the line NOT on the line. After the story is completed have them fill in the vocabulary section. If there is time left over play hangman (or use another character if 'hangman' lends itself to inappropriate cultural morays).
Lesson 2 Pg. 13 - Encourage the students to read this page before the next lesson. Lesson 1 - Encourage the students to go back and read their vocabulary and sentences. If they would like to complete the puzzles on pg. 10 then make sure to model it clearly for them. Take time to explain across and down.
