In this lesson students will read for comprehension fluency skills, they will be reading different passages. they will also be learning the first kind of genre which is " fairy tale"

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using different passages from the English workbook pages 3 to 9

Subsidiary Aims

  • students will be also practicing speaking and writing as a sub aim

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

i will introduce the Genre " fairy tale" to the students by asking them questions like, 1. do you think the fairy tale is a real story? 2. do you think the characters in the story are real? 3. where do the author bring the characters from ?

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

after that, i will show a video about the elements of a fairy tale and have a little discussion if any of the students have ever read a fairy tale before .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

before we start reading, i will explain to the students that " The Dragon Problem" is a story about who uses a clever idea to solve a problem. I will ask the students to read the first Paragraph and tell me who the main character is? and what does the author want us to know about him ( main character) ?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

students will be reading the second paragraph. After they finish they will be paraphrasing the text, i will remind students that paraphrasing or restating the text in their own words helps to ensure that they understand what they are reading.

Post-Reading/Listening (12-20 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

students will be working together and separately using the English workbook, page 2 to page 9
