Abc picture to create a context for listening
Abc vocabulary practice
Abc pictures
Abc answer keys

Main Aims

  • To provide practice to vocabulary words in the context of a first date

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practise listening for specific information and less controlled speaking

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Provide some pictures in which the students are going to say which ones do they like and which they don't.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ask the students about the difference between I really like reading- Reading is OK.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Let the students arrange the phrase form the strongest to the weakest.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

provide two sentences and ask the students to choose the correct structure ( I really like reading or read.) . This to be followed by a speaking activity where they are going to practice using asking and telling each other about their interests.

Semi-Controlled Practice - Free practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Use the picture in the book to provide a context for listening.keke Students listen to find what Mark likes and doesn't like. -students will listen to provide the answers. -students listen again an check their answers. -students listen to another track to find Mark's questions about Kim and the presenters answers. -students listen again to check their answers. -find the answer keys. -As a free practice; students will tell me then tell each other whether they spend their time like Kim or not.
