House Parts & Items - Demo Lesson

Description

Main aim of this lesson is to elicite the former knowledge of the students about the house parts and objects in those parts. There will be a short practice of "there is/are" to connect the former lesson's content and set an example of the usage of grammer in the context.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T introduces herself to Ss and asks them to introduce themselves when they speak. T draws a house on the board and starts asking the names of the rooms in the house. T mimes the rooms to help Ss guess.

Test #1 (3-5 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

T gives HO1 to test the knowledge of Ss. T lets Ss to look at the two pictures in given HO and spot the differences. Then T lets Ss to make senteces using "there is/are" comparing the the houses. T also asks Ss to identifiy the objects in the houses.

Teach (5-8 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T gives Ss HO2 and clarifies the names of the items that Ss have hard time recalling. T lets Ss to make sentences pointing out the items.

Test #2 (3-5 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T gives the HO3 to check the effectivenes of teaching. T checks the answers with whole class.

If Time Activity (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

If time, T introduces Ss the "Furniture Board Game" for further practice of the lexical set.
