Description

In this lesson, students will learn dynamic verbs and stative verbs. The lesson starts with a detailed reading task and this is followed by grammar exercises and vocabulary section in the second lesson.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Show the first slide to the students and ask the common thing in 4 photographs. 2- Ask the students to discuss whose photographs they carry.

Reading (6-8 minutes) • To provide a detailed reading

1- Show the handouts on chest and point out the reading part. Give and check instructions. Give out the handouts. 2- Peer Check. 2- Ask the students about the photos people carry on the slide and check their answers. 4- Tell the students to do exercise 2 (matching the sentences with each person) 5- Peer Check 6- Check answers

Post Reading (4-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice speaking

1- Ask the students "Whose photo do you carry around with you and why?" tell them to discuss with their partner. 2- Ask if they find out anything interesting

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

1- Show the second slide and tell the students that 5 sentences out of 10 are incorrect and find out the incorrect ones. 2- Solo and they peer-check. 3- Nominates the students to come to the board and mark the incorrect ones.Let the class check the answers. 4- Show the answers slide

Language Analysis (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

1- Show the Dynamic & Stative verbs slide to indicate a detailed presentation on the topic. 2- Tell the students to write down two sentences; one with a dynamic verb, one with a stative verb. 3- Peer-Check.

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

1- Show the last slide, give and check instructions for exercise 1 and 2. Tell the Students to do the exercises and check the answers with their partner. 2- Ask for volunteers to come to the board and write the answers for each question. 3- The class checks the answers. 4- Give Feedback.
